Andrew Hughes joined the team in September 2015 as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer. He is responsible for all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Hiscox, he was Senior Legal Counsel at QIC Limited, a Queensland Australia state-owned investment manager, and specialized in alternative asset classes. While there, he advised on a broad range of matters including structuring investments and funds (both inbound and outbound, domestic and international) and house matters such as back/middle office outsourcing, administration and custodian arrangements. Before joining QIC, he worked as a Senior Associate at King & Wood Mallesons, Australia within the structured finance and securitization practice, and as an Associate at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, UK in the finance practice.
Andrew was admitted to the roll of solicitors in England & Wales in September 2005 and the roll of solicitors in Queensland, Australia in February 2014. He graduated from the Exeter University, UK in 2000 with a BA in Law & Information Technology and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Law, also from Exeter University.
